Elevator Industry Fundamentals (Bundled)

The Elevator Industry Fundamental program consists of 5 modules covering the basics of the Elevating Device Industry. The modules are designed for individuals without prior elevating industry experience, or those needing an update on current industry standards. Our program targets Administrative and Financial Staff, Office and Account Managers, Sales Representatives, Project Coordinators, and Facility Managers. After completing these modules, participants will gain a basic understanding of Traction Elevators, Hydraulic Elevators, Escalators, Moving Walks, Maintenance, Modernization & Alterations. Participants will also acquire a fundamental knowledge of the Codes, Acts & Regulations that govern the elevating device industry and understand the terminology and essential functions of components.

This course is led by an industry expert, using an online virtual methodology. You will have access to the materials through an online learning management system. 

Course Outline

Course 1: Introduction to Elevating Devices:

Introduction to Elevating Devices module is designed to provide a general understanding of the Elevating Industry. After completing this module, participants will have basic knowledge of different types of elevating devices covered in the industry, along with basic terminology and function of principal components.

Course 2: Traction Elevators – Basics:

The Traction Elevator module is designed to give participants an overall understanding of how a traction elevator works, the terminology, principal components and codes that are related to traction elevators.

Course 3: Hydraulic Elevators – Basics:

The Hydraulic Elevator module is designed to give participants an overall understanding of how a hydraulic elevator works, the terminology, principal components and codes that are related to hydraulic elevators.

Course 4: Escalators and Moving Walks – Basics:

The Escalator and Moving Walks module is designed to give participants an overall understanding of how escalators and moving walks work, a general knowledge of the terminology of components and their primary function, along with a sense of what codes apply to these devices.

Course 5: Introduction to Maintenance, Modernization & Alteration

The Introduction to Maintenance, Modernization & Alteration module covers two main areas in the industry.

Section 1: Maintenance: This section will give the participant an understanding of what maintenance is, why it is required, an understanding of mandatory maintenance control programs, and basic training for facility managers on their current equipment.

Section 2: Modernization: This section will give participants a basic understanding of what a modernization is, code requirements when performing a modernization, a basic knowledge of the planning process, targeted areas of a modernization, and the benefits and reasons to perform a modernization.
