CFC 1409 P - Canada's Ozone Layer Protection Awareness
Course Description

This environmental awareness training program is based on Environment Canada's Code of Practice for the Elimination of Fluorocarbon Emissions in Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Systems. It focuses on environmentally responsible equipment design, proper refrigerant handling practices, and compliance with federal and provincial regulations governing refrigeration and air conditioning systems.
Course Topics Include:
- The science of ozone depletion
- Leak detection methods
- System charging procedures
- Special maintenance provisions
- Recovery, reuse, recycling, and reclamation of refrigerants
The program concludes with a 1.5-hour open-book final exam.
Certification
Participants who achieve a minimum of 75% on the final exam will receive official certification:
- Ozone Depletion Prevention (ODP) wallet card – Ontario residents
Wallet cards are mailed within 10 business days of successful completion.
Who Should Take This Course
This certification is required for anyone in Canada who purchases or handles refrigerants, as mandated by provincial and federal regulations.
