ED002 - Traction Elevators – Basics
Course Description
Traction Elevators - Basics
The Traction Elevator module is designed to give participants an overall understanding of how a traction elevator works, the terminology, principal components and codes that are related to traction elevators.
This course is led by an industry experts, using an online virtual methodology. You will have access to the materials through an online learning management system.
Course Outline
Anatomy – A basic understanding of the operating principles of a traction elevator, using 3D models and other media for visual reference and knowledge.
Terminology – Understanding the terminology related to traction elevators is crucial in the elevating device industry. To facilitate comprehension, we have divided it into four primary categories: Pit, Hoistway, Machine Room, and Car. These concepts will be thoroughly explain through the use of digital imagery, 3D animation, and additional visual aids during our discussion.
How it works – An in-depth look at a variety of configurations and operating principles of traction elevators. This includes speeds, doors, suspension, cables, weighting systems, electronics, braking and a variety of other knowledge areas specific to traction elevators.
Codes – Our expert will dive deeper into areas of the code that relate to traction elevators. You will gain knowledge of specific code references such as A17.1 and CSA B44. Codes detail a variety of safety and technical specifications including safe stopping distances.
Conclusion: We will conclude this module with a summary and field any remaining questions while ensuring attendees understand the materials of this course. We would be very happy to outline the value of taking the remaining 4 elevating device modules offered.
